Heather Bouchier (Seeseequasis) is a proud Plains Cree designer from Beardy’s & Okemasis Cree Nation in Treaty 6 Territory, Saskatchewan. A graduate of the Academy of Fashion Design in Saskatoon, she has been honing her craft since 2001.
In 2013, Heather debuted her first collection at Western Canada Fashion Week as an emerging designer. Since then, her work has been showcased across North America and Japan, gracing prestigious red-carpet events such as the Toronto International Film Festival, the Juno Awards, and the Canadian Screen Awards.
Heather’s designs blend sustainability with tradition, incorporating upcycled materials alongside intricate beadwork, horsehair, and dentalium shells. Always innovating, she integrates 3D-printed dentalium shells into her designs, a technique she has refined through her Indigenous Haute Couture Residencies.
Currently, Heather runs her own business, offering a diverse range of services including jewelry design, bridal wear, couture, custom sewing, alterations, costumes, and cosplay. Through her artistry, she continues to honour her cultural heritage while pushing the boundaries of Indigenous fashion.
